Commenting on Home Office stop and search figures out today which showed a dramatic rise in the number of people from ethnic groups stopped, Hodge Hill's Liberal Democrat candidate Nicola Davies, said "The dramatic rise of the numbers stopped and searched is worrying and will increase concerns of ethnic groups that they are being unfairly targeted. Stop and search can work if it is intelligence led but its random use, which these numbers suggest, can be counter productive and lead to accusations of prejudice against the police."
