Nicola Davies, Liberal Democrat Candidate for Thursday's election

Hello again, I have had a busy few days since I last updated you. Charles Kennedy has visited twice, first on Friday and then again today, he has been very supportive of the campaign. On Friday Charles and I visited a number of local businesses and met with local residents, today we visited a local school to chat to the head teacher about issues there. We also took a look at Chillinghome tower block - empty and derelict - a real monument to Labour failure and neglect.. Charles has now visited four times, this contrasts well with Tony Blair not coming at all.

Over the weekend we had many of our Liberal Democrat Members of Parliament helping out too including our Shadow Chancellor Vince Cable MP, Chief Whip Andrew Stunell MP, Simon Hughes MP, Ed Davey MP, Lembit Opik MP, David Rendel MP, Evan Harris MP, Matthew Green MP and Liz Lynne MEP.

My campaign is certainly growing daily. Local residents have told me it is time for a change - and they know that only the Liberal Democrats can deliver that change. Local people want action to save their neighbourhood Post Offices, they want more Police on the streets and they are dismayed over Iraq. Labour have let them down and neglected this area. I'm determined to get to grips with the problems this area has as a result of Labour neglect. People in this area are proud of where they live and they deserve better.

We have really entered the last phase of the election campaign now with Polling Day just a couple of days away. I know we can win this by-election, but my campaign manager tells me it will be very close and every additional helper could dramatically affect the result, if you are interested in helping out either by displaying a poster, doing some clerical work in my office or helping with some leaflet delivery please get in touch. My office is at 641 Washwood Heath Road, the phone number is 0121 327 4969 or you can email at help@hodgehill-libdems.org.uk to offer your help or support.

Once again many thanks for your support so far - remember you can get updates on my campaign at www.hodgehill-libdems.org.uk

Yours,

Nicola
