Nicola Davies and Simon Hughes MP talking to the Police during the recent by-election
Nicola Davies today welcomed the move by West Midlands Police to combat alcohol related violent crime. A Government report has recorded the level of offences of violence against the person at 20 offences per 1,000 in the West Midlands which is the second highest in the country. Nicola Davies said "Crime, and particularly violent crime has soared under Labour - they have had seven years to sort out these problems but instead the figures just keep going up."
The West Midlands Police have, also, today tasked Chief Superintendent Gary Cann as new 'Silver Commander' to lead the war against the 'drink-binge and brawl' culture. Nicola Davies said "I welcome this appointment, however what we also need is more bobbies on the beat which would lower the number of all crimes."
