Birmingham City Council have appointed an outside independent expert to investigate Birmingham City Council running of Elections. Nicola Davies said "I welcome this appointment, I saw the Counts for the Hodge Hill by-election and last months Local and European elections and believe they could have been organised better, there are already two electoral petitions against the results with the High Court, one which includes electors in Bordesley Green."
Last month's Local Elections have been widely criticised for being badly run and the time taken to count the ballot papers. Also John Alden, former Lord Mayor, is to conduct an inquiry into postal voting in Birmingham. This follows a previous inquiry two years ago!
