The Tories have today come out in favour of building more toll roads, and in particular in building them in the West Midlands! Not only can toll roads help to add to a two-tier Britain between the 'haves' and the 'have-nots' and ensure non-toll roads deteriorate but also can harm the environment.
The Conservative shadow Transport and Environment Secretary Tim Yeo announced the proposals earlier today by saying "We need to have more roads, we need to have better maintenance and repairs. We will start to commission new roads straight away. They'll have to be paid for by users".
He further said, mistakingly calling the M6 Toll the Midlands Express Way "The toll road in the Midlands, the Express Way, is a great success and it's been open for a year now. We want some more like that and to extend the M6 northwards."
