The High Court has ruled that there will be a hearing on the Aston Ward electoral petition. Mr. Justice Burton has ruled that the Council must hand over both the postal vote application forms and the ballot papers to the Court to inspect from fraud. Mr. Justice Burton also appointed a commissioner to organiser a hearing in Birmingham.
If the Court upholds the complaint the result from May may be overturned and the election re-run. Former Liberal Democrat Councillor Ayoub Khan said "I am delighted there will be a full trial, the Judge could have decided there was no case to answer. Mr. Justice Burton has ordered the full disclosure of documents and we will now proceed to a hearing. We will be getting a handwriting expert to look at the postal ballot forms and it will be easy to prove that there has been a massive amount of fraud."
