The Minutes of the Birmingham City Council Meeting from 12 October have now been published. At the City Council Meeting Councillor Paul Tilsley challenged Hodge Hill Labour Councillor (and Chair of the Hodge Hill District Committee) Ansar Ali Khan over the racist tactics in the Hodge Hill by-election earlier this year.
Councillor Paul Tilsley said "Thank you Lord Mayor. Does the Chairman agree with the Birmingham Trades Council Anti-Fascist Officer John Kelsey, who said thats Labour's tactics in the Hodge Hill by-election involved pandering to racists and were likely to play into the hands of the far right British National Party and National Front?"
Astonishingly Council Ansar Ali Khan replied saying "I never listened to this"
Councillor Paul Tilsley then asked a supplementary question saying "Would the Chairman also agree, Lord Mayor, with comments of Mr. Kelsey that the constant use of phrases such as 'failed Asylum seekers' helps to stir up racist sentiment against asylum seekers and black people? ..."
Councillor Khan again failed to condemn Labour's racist campaign and support the Birmingham Trades Council Anti-Fascist Officer John Kelsey
