Stay safe and consider others with fireworks

Tonight is the 399th anniversary of the Gunpowder plot to blow up Parliament, Bonfire Night has been celebrated since. Tonight and tomorrow night will see many firework displays and events at people homes as well as organised events. The Liberal Democrats are urging people not to to stay safe by have consideration for others.

Remember the safety rules which will be on all firework boxes about safely situating and lighting fireworks and particularly not to return to a firework you think has not gone off.

Also remember to be considerate of your neighbours and others, as well as pets! Fireworks are allowed to be set off until Midnight tonight and 11pm tomorrow under the law, anyone breaking the law risks a fine of up to £5,000 or six months imprisonment.

The law states that every day of the year with the exception of four fireworks cannot be let off between 11pm and 7am. The Exceptions are tonight where Midnight is the limit, Diwali Day, New Year's Eve and Chinese New Year when the limit is 1am.
