Birmingham City Council's Chief Executive seems set to contest a High Court order to hand over copies of thousands of postal vote application forms in the Electoral Petitions from this June's elections in Aston and Bordesley Green.
The copies of the documents could help prove that six Labour councillors in Aston and Bordesley Green owe their election to an organised campaign of rigged votes.
Ayoub Khan, a former Liberal Democrat Councillor said it would be very difficult to prove malpractice if the petitioners could not match up applications for postal votes with declarations and witness statements.
Birmingham City Council have until November 16 before they have to hand over the documents.
