Today saw the end of production at Birmingham's historic train producers, Alstoms, the former Metro-Cammell plant in Washwood Heath. The decision to close was announced in June 2003 and the last few months have seen a reduction in the workforce, about1,400 jobs have been lost in total.
Nicola Davies said "Today's ending of production makers the end of an era. I know the Unions pressed hard to save the jobs including lobbying the Labour Party Conference. The Government's failure to support the workers is just another example of how this Labour Government have let the people of Hodge Hill down."
