Happy New Year! 2004 was a hectic year, or at least the second half of it. 2005, of course, will see a General Election and I hope a successful General Election for the Liberal Democrats.
Last June saw the Local Elections take place across Birmingham and Tariq Khan be re-elected in Washwood Heath and become Deputy Leader of the Liberal Democrat Group. The Liberal Democrats success in winning a number of additional Council Seats ensured that the Labour Party lost control of Birmingham for the first time in 20 years.
The Parliamentary by-election took place in July, where I narrowly failed to win Birmingham Hodge Hill by the narrowest of margins - of just 460. Since the by-election my team has been very active taking up people's problems across the constituency.
2005 will almost certainly see a General Election and with Blair even more unpopular now, there is an excellent chance that the Liberal Democrats will win both Birmingham Hodge Hill and Birmingham Yardley to deliver our first MPs in Birmingham.
Together, with you help, 2005 can be a successful year for the Liberal Democrats in Birmingham Hodge Hill - if you would like any further information about the Liberal Democrats or my campaign please contact me on Nicola@hodgehill-libdems.org.uk
