The Liberal Democrats have slammed Labour over the crisis in NHS dental care. New figures show that over three in five adults and around half of children are not registered with an NHS dentist. Paul Burstow Liberal Democrat Shadow Health Secretary said The Government is sitting idly by whilst NHS dental care becomes harder to find. The fact that dentists have pulled out of contract negotiations is very worrying. It appears that the Government's solution to the crisis in NHS dentistry is just not working."
The number of adults registered with an NHS dentist fall from over 51% in 1997 to just 38.8% today. During the same period the number of children registered with NHS dentists has fallen from nearly 66% to below 55%.
