In an unprecedented move, the Government and the Conservatives last night supported a Liberal Democrat Opposition Day motion on climate change and the environment, even though it criticises Tory policies on the issue.
Norman Baker, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary said "Labour finally appears to be joining the Liberal Democrats in finding some consensus on how to tackle global warming. Sadly, the Tories are still way behind. By not forcing a vote on today's motion, the Tories have accepted the House's condemnation of its policies to weaken the Environment Agency and abolish the climate change levy, without providing a practical alternative."
