John Hemming MP for Yardley and Councillor Mike Ward will be meeting local residents tonight at the the Silvermere Centre in Sheldon (7pm) to discuss opposition to the proposals from the Sheldon Pub to extend their opening hours.

John Hemming MP said "We were very worried about how things have been deteriorating at the Sheldon. Recently there was a shooting in Cranes Park Road. Now to add insult to injury the brewery wish to extend opening hours. We are meeting local residents to build a campaign against this proposal and to bring the disorder caused by the Sheldon Pub to an end."

Mike Ward said "It is not acceptable for residents to have shootings in the street as a result of the lack of control of the customers to a pub. "
