"I am very pleased to have been re-elected and pledge to continue to fight for our region and for Liberal Democrat values in the new European Parliament," said Liz, as she thanked everone who supported the campaign.
Speaking after the result was declared as 2am in the National Indoor Arena, Liz said:
"I tried to fight a positive campaign on my record of work in the European Parliament and on the key issues where we have to work together with other European countries - crime, the environment and the economy. I hoped all the MEPs elected will make a point of working hard for their 5 million constituents to make a difference in the way the Parliament works and the projects the EU contributes to."
