Cllr Paul TilsleyCouncillor Paul Tilsley has urged Peter Mandelson, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation & Skills, to support the independence of Cadbury. Cadbury is currently fighting against a hostile takeover bid by Kraft.

Councillor Paul Tilsley, Leader of Birmingham's Liberal Democrat Council Group, sent a joint letter with Selly Oak Councillor Dave Radcliffe. They emphasised that Cadbury is an iconic Birmingham brand and that it deserves more than to be asset stripped by the Kraft conglomerate.

In addition, they said:

"Cadbury's also contributes to the City as a successful manufacturer and employer, as well as being a major draw for tourism. Every year, thousands of visitors come to the Selly Oak area to visit Cadbury world, as well as other local attractions."

"We mustn't let a quick profit come before our heritage."
