Green Waste Collection Charges for 2018 - Unfair rebate scheme?

December 4, 2017 2:29 PM

Green Recycling binDuring the dispute the Council promised some form of rebate in 2018, for 2017 customers, who suffered a series of missed collections due to the bin strike. The Liberal Democrats think the proposals are unfair and would be interested in hearing your views.

The proposed reductions are 30% for all 2017 customers (who pay £28 pounds instead of the £40 full charge) and no charge at all for those who logged 3 or more consecutive missed co...llections in 2017.

We believe this proposal is unfair on the thousands of customers who had three or more consecutive missed collections, but did not report them. For many people there seemed little point in reporting the missed collections, as the reason was obvious; we were in the middle of a bin strike! Under the proposed scheme, not reporting the missed collections now means you miss out on a free service in 2018.

Do you agree this is unfair? If so, please let us know and we will put your views to the cabinet member responsible for the rebate scheme.
