Birmingham Liberal Democrats stand with the people of Ukraine, and fully support NATO

February 24, 2022 11:38 PM

Speaking on the crisis in the Ukraine, Birmingham Erdington by-election candidate Lee Dargue, Lib Dem Councillors and Birmingham party members agreed:

"We stand with the people of Ukraine and unequivocally condemn the unjustified and unacceptable invasion of sovereign territory by Russia. We also stand with the Russian people who oppose the actions of their government, but are not safe or free to publicly say so.

"We fully support NATO and our friends and allies across the world in calling for an end to this invasion and to support the people of Ukraine.

"War in Europe was something we believed consigned to history. We call upon politicians of all parties to join in condemning of Russia's actions, and for the UK to sanction Gazprom, Rosneft and other companies state-owned by Russia."
