History was made today, as Rachel Reeves, the first female chancellor in British political history, made her first statement, adding “Girls - let there be no ceiling on your ambitions, your hopes and your dreams'

Birmingham Liberal Democrats congratulate her on that step, and acknowledge that this is another positive move towards equality in politics. 

Sir Ed Davey congratulated the chancellor for “blazing the trail” for women and girls everywhere.

On that, we can all agree.
