Brum bins are looking grim

Residents across the city are expressing frustration to their councillors about bin collections, and your Liberal Democrat councillors are noting a significant increase in issues relating to recycling.
The council is now in week 6 of industrial action, and the strikes have escalated to 3 days per week which is going to have a significant and negative impact on the collection of waste.
“It's' yet another example of failure by Birmingham Labour” said Group Leader Cllr Roger Harmer.
One resident got in touch to advise that she had driven to the Tyseley waste centre to take in 3 bags of Tetra pak cartons for recycling, and some cardboard. When she was there she was told to put all of them into the general waste as the cardboard machine was “broken” and the recycling containers were full to the brim.
“Today's visit was a a waste of time and C02 emission” she said.
Here are the planned strike dates:

During this time, no kerbside recycling will be collected.
- Recycling can be taken to a Household Recycling Centre. If residents cannot take it, they are advised to keep hold of it until the next recycling opportunity.
- Residents will receive one bin collection per week. Grey bins should be put out as normal and will be collected as soon as possible. Additional black bags tied and positioned next to the wheelie bin should be accepted. Only one bin will be accepted
- Assisted collections will continue. Housing blocks and houses of multiple occupation where residence is high will be the focus point for waste collection
The council has extended some of the operating hours for our Household Recycling Centres as listed below:
