“Under the coalition Government, the Liberal Democrats made great strides in reducing child poverty through the introduction and later development of pupil premium. Today, that work was enhanced as the chancellor announced an expansion of breakfast clubs.

Cllr Tilsley added “We support the expansion of breakfast clubs, which build on the excellent work of the Liberal Democrats to reduce child poverty through Pupil Premium.

“I noted that she talked about investing in schools, but there was no mention of Birmingham schools in her list.

“I was around at the time of the “Building Schools for the Future" programme announced by the Blair Government. In Birmingham we all got excited about that, but it was later scrapped by Brown. I can’t help but wonder - is this a re-tread or former failed Labour policies?”
