Lib Dems announce their Bournbrook and Selly Park by-election candidate
A by-election has been called on Bournbrook and Selly Park ward after councillor Brigid Jones stood down as the councillor with immediate effect. Residents will be able to vote for a new candidate on 2 May.
The Liberal Democrats were quick to begin campaigning in the ward. Their local candidate is Joe Norris who is about to complete a 4-year degree in electronic engineering.
Asked for his reaction on the appointment, Joe said:
“I'm ecstatic to stand as the Liberal Democrat candidate for Bournbrook and Selly Park. I've called this place home for four years now, and I'm grateful for the opportunity to be able to give back to the community.
“Over the next few weeks, I look forward to meeting all of my neighbours in the ward and championing our voices in this City Council by-election.”
Commenting on the selection, Group Leader Roger Harmer said:
“Joe is an excellent candidate who will be fighting a strong campaign, giving residents of Bournbrook and Selly Park ward an opportunity to have their say on the disastrous failures of the current Labour Council and our bungling Conservative Government.
“Birmingham needs a fresh start. Joe and the Lib Dem team offer exactly that.”
