in November 2024, the total number of people in temporary accommodation in Birmingham surpassed 20,000 for the first time, of which, just under half of those were children. In December, the number of children in TA is likely to be over 10,000.
Levelling up has clearly failed, and poverty in Birmingham gets worse as families get larger. The swiftest and most efficient way to lift families out of poverty is to end the two-child cap on child benefit.
